Role Overview
We're looking for a Junior Android Developer to help bring PrizeTrail to Android users worldwide. You'll work with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose to build a modern, performant Android app that matches the quality and feature set of our iOS platform.
This is a ground-floor opportunity to shape our Android presence from the early stages. You'll integrate with Health Connect APIs, implement Firebase backend services, and collaborate with our iOS team to ensure feature parity across platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Android app features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose
- Implement Health Connect API, Sensor Manager, and other step tracking frameworks
- Build responsive, Material Design-compliant user interfaces
- Backend development involving databases and cloud deployment
- Ensure feature parity with iOS app while respecting Android platform conventions
- Optimize app performance, battery usage, and memory management
- Write clean, testable, and well-documented code
- Collaborate with iOS developers to share solutions and maintain consistency
- Debug and resolve issues across different Android devices and OS versions
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to architectural decisions
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in Android development
- Proficiency in Kotlin programming language
- Experience with Jetpack Compose for modern UI development
- Familiarity with Android SDK and Material Design guidelines
- Understanding of Android architecture components (ViewModel, LiveData, Room)
- Experience with RESTful APIs and JSON parsing
- Experience with Git version control
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience
Nice to Have:
- Experience with Health Connect or Sensor Manager APIs
- Familiarity with Wear OS development
- Experience with databases and cloud deployment
- Knowledge of Google Play Store submission and review processes
- Published apps on the Google Play Store
- Experience with coroutines and Flow for asynchronous programming
